Hello GoodBye – 15.12.12 – Unit, Keeley Forsyth, Victoria Yeulet and Sisters


This final episode of Hello GoodBye for 2012 promises be a big bumper box of treats!

Featuring live music from: Unit, Keeley Forsyth & Sisters.

Also, author Victoria Yeulet joins us in the studio to read an extract from ‘Women Make Noise’, a new book that documents the role of women within contemporary music.

UNIT have been in existence since 2000, irritating and annoying everyone with their curiously mutated pop songs and avant gardening. Until 2011 the group consisted primarily of Chinese teenagers plus a token white man as a sop to ensure ethnic diversity. In November 2012 we completed our 24th album which is due out before December 31st. Our group is now so ridiculously eccentric and off the wall that even we can’t be sure who’s in it now. As far as I am aware, I think I’m still a member but that may be just a malicious rumour.
Unit singer Andy Martin’s books – A History Progressive Rock – Chinese Cinema 1905-2005 – Faded Fragments Of Distant Dreams (an autobiographical account of my 4 years in Alton Secondary School) are also available from their website.

Keeley Foryth is an actor, singer, performer and keen collaborator working with artists and film makers on live projects and experimental performances in galleries, museums, old biscuit factories. ‘The Scuttler’ is a character born out of a workshop with art duo boyleANDshaw in 2009 whilst investigating a one act play ‘I Rise In Flames Cried The Phoenix’ based around the last hours of DH Lawrence’s life. ‘The Scuttler’ became an extension of the character Brett or Bertha in the play and has been a way to develop a sound that connects her rural Lancashire roots, folk tales, domestic noise, digital murmurs and vibrations. Keeley Forsyth’s forthcoming album is entitled The Scuttler.

Sisters are a new all female ensemble featuring Sylvia Saunders, Astrud Steerhouder (The Rayographs / Paper Dollhouse) and Victoria Yeulet.

Hello GoodBye – 01.12.12 – Dead Rat Orchestra, David Tattersall & Halo Halo

Hello GoodBye possibly bites off more than it can chew this Saturday lunchtime, with not 2 but 3 sets of live performers in the studio; Dead Rat Orchestra, Hallo Halo & David Tattersall.
Since forming in 2002, The Dead Rat Orchestra have played regularly throughout the UK and Internationally, always attempting to react or interact with their surroundings and the people and ideas that they come across – often crafting each performance for the particular space in which they find themselves (from former abattoirs to churches, concert halls to coppice woods). Dead Rat Orchestra are Daniel Merrill, Robin Alderton and Nathaniel Mann.

Halo Halo take their name from a very tasty, multicoloured desert from the Philippines. They are Jack on drums, singing and Harmonica and Rachel on Banjo, singing and Gill on keyboards and bass. Halo Halo make music that careens, drawing on Appalachian folk rambles as well as the hyper melodic clattering Sinawi vibes of Korea’s shamanic past. Check out their debut 7? single ‘Manananggal’ on M’Lady’s records now.

The Wave Pictures frontman David Tattersall recorded his new solo album Little Martha in one day with Simon Trought at the old Soup Studio, underneath the Duke of Uke ukulele shop on Hanbury Street, just off Brick Lane in East London. There are no overdubs on the album, which was recorded live with one microphone. Franic Rozycki stopped by to play mandolin on a couple of tracks, but otherwise it’s entirely me playing acoustic guitar. There are no vocals on the album.

Hello GoodBye – 10.11.12 – Nótt, Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou

Brighton based duo Nótt perform their debut live session on Hello GoodBye, whilst husband and wife duo Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou return for a highly anticipated, umpteenth appearance on the show!

The idea of Nótt was sparked following a new year’s eve spent on Brighton beach watching candlelit lanterns being sent out over the waters. The imagery and feel of the experience became the inspiration for a collaboration between two musicians, Stephan Barrett and Josephine Lloyd. Over a few days in a suburban basement during a cold week in early January 2012, Nótt created a collection of recordings and called the set “Winter’s Frame”, which is free to download from: HERE

In April 2012 Trevor & Hannah loaded up their long suffering British Leyland campervan with guitars, a few microphones and a 4-track cassette recorder, and headed for the tiny village of Saint-Pierre-Des-Landes in Northern France where they spent the next ten days committing to cassette, their newest collection of words and melodies. The resulting collection of songs may now be heard on their new LP ‘La Ferme De Fontenaille’ (The Anglophone Recording Company)

Hello GoodBye – 20.10.12 – UMEZ, Kostoglotov, Bob Meyer & Joe Wilkes



Lots to squeeze into 90 minutes on The Hello GoodBye Show today!

Kostoglotov is the London based bedroom recording project of Daryl Worthington. He writes and records lo-fi, ambient and drone music using a combination of Dictaphone, 4-track and laptop.

2012 has seen a plethora of releases from Kostoglotov, including a split tape with Camberwell improvising no-wave electro punks Circuit Breaker on the Liminal Noise Tapes label, and a solo CDR entitled ‘Our Beautiful Decay’ on his own Neither Scene Nor Has Been label and several free download releases.

Most recently he released an EP entitled ‘East London 27.07 – 13.08’, this was built on field recordings taken from outside his house in East London during the 2012 London Olympics. In September the Eyes EP was released on the HLF/PIN netlabel.

Kostoglotov also organises and curates his own irregular nights of experimental pop, drone, punk and electronic music at Power Lunches, Dalston, entitled ‘Tell Me What To Do.’

Umez; A brand-new Japanese avant-garde band based in London. Their sound contains two completely opposite side of music genres, noise and pop. Although they’re two opposite music genres, their noise sound is purely heavy white noise meaning it matches perfectly with their pop sound reminding you the sorrow you feel in the end of the summer. Also, they’ve already supported a few influential artists such as Damo Suzuki (ex. Can) and Dee Dee (Dum Dum Girls) despite their short activity.

Also, The London Folk & Roots Festival organisers Bob Meyer and Joe Wilkes will also be dropping by the studio to discuss the event.

Hello GoodBye Show – 13.10.12 – bib, The Bronstein & Llyr Williams


This edition of The Hello GoodBye Show paid tribute to the artist/broadcaster Ferris Blood who died last year from cancer at a tragically young age and this weekend witnesses a number of events that all aim to pay tribute to his life and talent.
Ferris was the co-creator with Llyr Williams of Depressing Comics and also the brains behind the Dear Puppeteer radio show spin-off that was first aired on Resonance FM back in 2010.

Today on Hello GoodBye we feature live music from; bib & The Bronstein.

Depressing Comics co-founder Llyr Williams will also join us in the studio to read and discuss the just published paper back compendium of the comic.

Intellectual boy-band bib have re-formed especially for this event and join us in the studio with their wry, observational electro-pop.
