Midnight Sex Talk: Prostitution and the new UK Laws

Midnight Sex Talk – Prostitution and the New UK Laws

There’s been a lot going on with our sex laws recently here in the UK. As with the abortion debate, where sex work is concerned there’s the usual forest of moral panic to negotiate, before you get anywhere near the people who actually do it, or who work with those who do. And media stereotypes abound – there’s either the desperate drug addict working the street, Miss Whiplash of the suburbs, or the middle class girl who’s hoping to get a book deal out of it.

However, whatever happens in parliament, no-one is going to stop selling sex, or paying for it, anytime soon.

In the studio we’ve got Jahnet DeLight to give us her take on it all, and we’ve got interviews with Ana Lopes of the International Union of Sex Workers and Cari Mitchell of the English Collective of Prostitutes.

Midnight Sex Talk is broadcast on alternate Sunday nights, from 11.30pm-12.30am, on Resonance 104.4 FM. More info about us at

Midnight Sex Talk – Addiction

Midnight Sex Talk – Addiction

Everyone’s an addict now, apparently. This week’s Midnight Sex Talk looks at sex addiction (does it really exist?) and also what addiction can do to a relationship. If you’re with someone who’s an addict, (and that could be drink, drugs, gambling etc, or, of course, sex), there are three (or more) of you in that relationship, whether you like it or not. Love itself is an addiction, and can mimic a lot of the same behaviours. Either way, you end up doing things you’d never imagine.

Suzanne Noble who, among other things, makes the excellent Modern Loving series of sex guides, joins us to help unravel it all.

Midnight Sex Talk is broadcast on alternate Sunday nights, from 11.30pm-12.30am, on Resonance 104.4 FM. More info about us at

Midnight Sex Talk: Infidelity

Midnight Sex Talk – Infidelity

We really should have done this show as an all-night charity marathon, there’s so much to talk about. It would be like They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? but no-one would get tired. As usual, however, Midnight Sex Talk will be giving you the essence of the subject in just 60 high-quality minutes.

Have you played away? Have you discovered your other half at it? How did you find out? Was it tell-tale bruises, stubble burn or a simple stray email? Do you think infidelity is even an issue? Is monogamy a pointless social construct that puts needless pressure on people? Or is it a valuable rule to arrange your life around?

Helping things along in the studio is journalist Piers Hernu, who can be spotted doing all kinds of loveable rogue-type things around the darker parts of the global village. We’ve also got an interview with Stephen Green of Christian Voice. Enough said!

Midnight Sex Talk is broadcast on alternate Sunday nights, from 11.30pm-12.30am, on Resonance 104.4 FM. More info about us at

The most recent series of “an hour of capital stuff,” presented by Lord Murk and Nobby.

Produced by John Nicholson for Resonance104.4fm, London Revisited is an esoteric guide to the city’s hidden histories.

Episode 11: An interview with Lloyd and Dorothy Moote, authors of a medico-historical study of The Great Plague: the Story of London’s Most Deadly Year. Plus the regular serial, “Crimes and Damned Crimes,” which dissects Peter Ackroyd’s distorted mythologising of the city; On The Barrow; Roger Dobson’s Lost Writers of London; Reading London; and Tim Mars’s audio cartoon, Meeting with Remarkable Men.
