Voice on Record: Episode 51 (Comedy)

Several comedians and comic actors at work:
Steptoe And Son – Wilfred Brambell as Albert and Harry H Corbett as Harold in this excerpt from The Diploma entitled The Gentle Art Of Totting. Vintage double act from the BBC series, music by Ron Grainer of Doctor Who theme-tune fame (Pye Golden Guinea, 1962). Also,
Scott Dobson’s Larn Yersel’ Geordie with George Russel and Mike Neville (MWM Records, undated);
Watch Out For The Bits! The explosive exploits of Blaster Bates volume four (Big Ben, 1971) and, Barry Humphries as Australian Cultural Attache to the Court of St James, Les Patterson.
Originally broadcast on 26th October 2010

Voice On Record is produced and presented by Sean Williams. Each episode features a selection of recordings of the human voice which have been preserved on vinyl. Historic events stand alongside esoteric guides to better bowling. Arid studio recordings are juxtaposed with location recordings rich with fascinating incidental sounds.

    Please note, the Larn Yersel’ Geordie and Geordierama shows and LP records, based on Scott Dobson’s ‘Geordie Byeuks’ were presented by(then)BBC Look North’s MIKE NEVILLE and GEORGE HOUSE.I was their adapter and producer.
    Cheers,

    Roger, do you remember producing a short film with a Newcastle pop group which was a trial for the Beatles about 1961. Was it archived.

    Cheers Bill.
