Voice On Record: Episode 16 (Ireland part 1)

The first of three shows on Ireland, including works read by Yeats, O’Casey and Heaney, and a special experiment using Robert Frost’s readings of “After Apple Picking”. Also featuring part 2 of TS Eliot’s “Murder In The Cathedral”. Voice On Record is produced and presented by Sean Williams. Each episode features a selection of recordings of the human voice which have been preserved on vinyl. Historic events stand alongside esoteric guides to better bowling. Arid studio recordings are juxtaposed with location recordings rich with fascinating incidental sounds.

Clear Spot: 8th February 2010 (Esteban Antonio)

This Clear Spot features an interview with, and performance by, Esteban Antonio. The guitarist, world-musician and inventor initially reflects on his attraction to, and subsequent mastery of, the guitar, citing some of his major influences and experiences. In the second section, he introduces his invention; a seventeen stringed, three necked instrument which he calls the Ha-Shem. Esteban plays three compositions: Tears of the Latter Rain, the Voice of Many Waters, and, Dreams, Legends and the Spirit; describing the techniques he has developed to achieve his new repertoire.

Comics at The London Literature Festival

The London Literature Festival runs from July 1st – 18th at The South Bank Centre in London and features a multitude of talks, panels and presentations on the world of books. Comics are represented at the festival in a couple of events including:

EL Redux: Bells, birds and brooks

An edit of Resonance FM’s field recording collage, Edible Landscapes. This edit begins with bells, continues via birds, bikes and farm noises to end with gently lapping brook sounds. It was cut from an episode first heard in May 2009 and was first transmitted on 30th May 2010.
