Decadence #9 launch party
At 7pm, Friday June 15th, Orbital will be hosting the launch party for the nineth issue of the underground comics anthology Decadence Comics.
Decadence #9 features contributions from Sebastian Jefford, Jon Chandler, Emix Regulus, Lando, Leon Sadler, Stathis Tsemberlidis, Simon Moreton and Dan Hallett.
This will be a rare opportunity to see both founders of Decadence Comics – Lando and Stathis Tsemberlidis – in one place, and must not be missed.
Greg Pak signing
Orbital Comics is pleased to confirm that superstar writer Greg Pak (Hulk, X-Men, Hercules, Alpha Flight, Dead Man’s Run) will be here in-store for a signing on June 16 from 4pm.
With the upcoming nuptials of Northstar and his boyfriend Kyle just around the corner, Greg is one of the few writers to have handled their controversial courtship and romance in detail.
We’ll have trade paperbacks and back issues available, plus copies of Greg’s brand new project Vision Machine.
Karrie Fransman exhibition
This solo exhibition by comic creator Karrie Fransman‘s (The Guardian, The Times, Random House) plays with the boundaries of the comic medium by fitting comics in weird and wonderful places- dolls houses, jewellery boxes and quilts. With the advance of digital technologies, comics are escaping their paper covers and spilling out into the world, becoming visual and interactive.
To mark the opening of the exhibition, Karrie will be joined by Comics Journalist Paul Gravett and experimental comics pioneer Daniel Merlin Goodbery for a panel discussion on Thursday June 21st, at 7:30pm.

Laydeez do comics, June 2012
Oxford based cartoonist Kate Brown (The DFC, The Phoenix, Fish + Chocolate) will be talking about her work at this month’s LDC before the monthly meeting for female comic creators and their fans breaks for the summer holidays, alongside SelfMadeHero directors Doug Wallace and Emma Hayley who will be talking about their independent UK graphic novel publishing company.
