In the year of the fortieth anniversary of mankind’s first lunar landing, this episode of Voice On Record presents many of the original transmissions from the expeditions leading up to this remarkable achievement. The programme features audio from John Glenn’s visions of mysterious particles surrounding his Mercury capsule to the “One Giant Leap” soundbites that are familiar to all of us. The programme also includes excerpts from Space 1999 and Battlestar Gallactica.
Voice On Record is produced and presented by Sean Williams. Each episode features a selection of recordings of the human voice which have been preserved on vinyl. Historic events stand alongside esoteric guides to better bowling. Arid studio recordings are juxtaposed with location recordings rich with fascinating incidental sounds.
