Apologies for not posting much in the last month or so; with a baby arriving any time now and a housemove on the way things have been a bit hectic. Sorry all!

Anyway, by way of apology, here is a treat for you all: the Hella Flossy mix Trick dropped on Jonny Reggae‘s radio show in Brighton a month or so back. This was done as promo for the mighty Up The Anti mix that is now out in stores, so if you like what you hear, be sure to head out and look up the mix. I won’t front: we need the sales on that shit if the likes of Needlework and Rhythm Inc are to keep churning out releases!

Click to download the Hella Flossy Mix (66Mb)

Music in the mix includes exclusive treats from the ever-sublime Mat Young and Joey Beats (who dropped everything to supply an instrumental version of his killer Cunnylynguists remix – thanks Joe!), not to mention an exclusive Fink remix by yours truly, some EdIT, a Mashit tribute, me and Wax’s “I KILL YOU WITH MY MIND!” track and much more…

And, if you like what you hear, head on over to any of these online stores to snap up the Up The Anti mix:

USA: Underground Hip Hop dot com

UK: Rough Trade Records (or Selectadisc if you prefer)

For other countries, just click this link to open up the Google search on the CD – god knows there’s stores all over the damn place stocking it, from Japan to the Czech Republic and beyond…

Out fifth podcast in the mighty Rhythm Incursions podcast series is another live mix session, this time from New York’s DJ Olive. In September last year, Olive was over to play The Barbican in London with Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth. While he was in town we hooked up, and at super short notice (about 90 minutes!) he grabbed his laptop and materials and headed to the Resonance FM studio to hijack the airwaves and drop a live set. The result was astonishing; a mad tour of the music Olive loves so much, be that downtempo mellow grooves to latin-inflected rhythms. The result is every bit as amazing as the David Last set we podcast for show #2. Trust us, this one is a keeper!

Olive’s brand new mix “Heaps As – Live in Tasmania” is out now on The Agriculture.

Ahh, now here is a fantastic musical treat for you all. On August 4th this year, David Last of The Agriculture stopped by the Resonance studio to perform a live set. As this set went out as a Clear Spot (a 90 min. nightly slot on the station where artists basically take over, and do what they want), some of our usual Rhythm Inc fans missed it. So, we are delighted that the good folks over at The Agriculture have given us the go-ahead to podcast the session for those of you that missed it.

For those of you who haven’t yet heard of David Last, you’re in for a real treat. Its quite rare these days that you can truly claim that someone has a sound of their own, but in David’s case that sentiment most certainly applies. Fusing dancehall-style rhythms with almost a minimal house kinda vibe, he weaves together a sonic collage that draws you in and hypnotises you from the get-go. Don’t be mistaken: this is post-club music at its finest – the kind of thing you put on when its 3am, you’re tired as hell and wanting to wind down after a night out on the tiles.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy a real treasure we think too many people missed. For more information on David Last, check both www.theagriculture.com and www.davidlast.net. Be sure to buy his album “The Push Pull” too, from which some of this live set is drawn. Trust us, its an essential listen.

But for now, just enjoy the music, for this is what its allllll about!
